The “Project Room” will feature an installation by Artist Kira Vollman.  Vollman's installation will take you on
a sonic and scenic journey. In her visual art as in her sonic art, she creates imaginary landscapes that are
sculptural, structural. atmospheric and multi-dimensional. For the SOPA Project Room Vollman brings all of
these together with inter-active sound sculptures, re-purposed scrap metal and paintings.

Additional space within the painting studio will be dedicated as “Sketchbook Hall,” intended as a space for
works that typically would not find their way to exhibition.  Sketchbook Hall provides artists much latitude in
playing with possibilities for showing their work. Submissions include drawings, sketches, sculptures, collages,
prints, books, experimental work or other pieces demonstrating the creative process.   Alternatively, artists
have submitted highly finished works that they wish to make available at an affordable price.  The Hall thus
presents an opportunity for studio patrons to encounter work that is both accessible and affordable.

SOPA Studios is a shared work-space housing the studios of ten resident artists.  The SOPA Collective extends
this network to include local artists who do not maintain studios at SOPA but participate in its endeavor to
connect and promote artistic development through feature exhibitions, workshops, speaker events and other
activities.

Exhibitions and other activities of SOPA Studios offer unique opportunities for networking and creative
exchange among the large number of artists living and working in South Pasadena and surrounding areas. With
its focus on broadening the accessibility of local artists to each other and to the resources and arts patronage
available in the area, the SOPA Collective reflects a local effort to support and nurture both established and
emerging artists.

SOPA Studios is located at 1025 Hope Street in South Pasadena.  The full-day South Pasadena Eclectic Arts
Fest event will run from 3-10pm on May 9.  Following the May 9 event, SOPA  exhibitions will remain on view
Sunday May 10 from 2-6pm as well as during regular Open Studio hours on Thursday evenings from 6-8:30pm
through May 21.

Artists seeking information about the SOPA Collective are encouraged to visit the SOPA website at www.
sopastudios.com.  The SOPA website also features an artist directory, permitting view of biographies and
sample works by members of the SOPA Collective.
