Feb 9 Keith Ullrich subject of Filmforum research re postwar experimental film
Keith together with artist/filmmaker Craig Rice was video-interviewed mid-January for a Getty- funded project involving Los Angeles Filmforum. This arises from Keith’s involvement with Pasadena Filmforum in the late ‘70s and early ‘80s: Craig was making short films and Keith providing music/ soundscapes. A bit about the project: it is part of an initiative to broaden awareness & exposure of LA's contemporary art history. Filmforum will focus on how filmmaking evolved in Los Angeles by gathering oral histories from artists who contributed to the creation of experimental cinema in Southern California in the postwar era. A three-day symposium is planned for 2010. The end goal is a series of film screenings that will occur 2011/12 as well as media-rich web publication. We’ll look forward to hearing more about Keith’s involvements! Until then, above image is a peak at Keith's January interview.
