| Artist Profiles Lisa Marsh Painting / Printmaking Working in a variety of painting and drawing media, Lisa Marsh places importance on the intuitive process inherent to artmaking. She is particularly interested in the ability of art to communicate emotional content through a rendering of form, both representational and abstract. Form and line begin to describe material objects while remaining fundamentally a composition of immaterial shapes and marks. Images operate to suggest the identifiable (thus something to connect with) while remaining only somewhat familiar and subject to interpretation. These interests have led to explorations in painting as well as a variety of printmaking media, including Etching, Transfer, and Gum Watercolor processes. A minimum amount of narration is explored in the work –- works do not intend to convey a certain story. Rather, the intention is that the viewer connect with the imagery presented on an emotional basis, in the artist's view the primary point of entry toward appreciation of any work of art. |
